Queer Producers Incubator 2025
Applications close: Sun 6th July, 5pm
The Queer Producers Incubator is a two-day workshop, to support and upskill 5 emerging queer-identifying producers who have at least one project in development.
The workshop takes place on Fri 25 and Sat 26 July 2025 in Tāmaki Makaurau, and will be an intensive two days with sessions from guest speakers tailored to the group including:
Supporting a team through story development
Different approaches to producing
Creating safe spaces in development, production, and marketing
Upskilling in pitching, funding and financing
Building a sustainable career with projects that align with your values
The aim is to upskill queer producers, progressing them further in their careers while supporting a project they are currently developing.
Applicants will need to tell us a little bit about the project/s they have in development in the application, and are able to list up to two projects. The project/s should be a webseries, series, documentary or feature. Shorts are eligible too but only as a second project when the producer is also developing one of these other project formats.
After the workshop, the participants will receive mentoring in the form of 4 x 1 hour Zoom sessions with a producer mentor, to be completed by the end of October 2025.
NOTE TO APPLICANTS FROM OUTSIDE TĀMAKI MAKAURAU -
For successful applicants from outside of Tāmaki Makaurau, your petrol or flights to attend the workshop will be covered by Proud Voices On Screen. However, accommodation and ground transportation in Auckland will not be covered - you would need to make your own arrangements.
This initiative was made possible with support from the NZ Film Commission.
