QUEER PRODUCERS INCUBATOR 2025

The Queer Producers Incubator supports five emerging queer-identifying producers with at least one screen project in development. The incubator is made up of a two-day intensive workshop and mentorship, and selected participants range from those developing their first series or feature to those who have already made a low-budget feature.

The initiative offers an opportunity for queer producers to learn their craft in a queer-led space. They learn about what it takes to lead a project from concept to delivery, receive advice about the project/s they are developing and come away with a network of peers.

The participants selected for the Queer Producers Incubator 2025 were (pictured above L-R):

  • Connor Amor-Bendall

  • Cathasaigh Ò Fiannachta

  • Marshall Lorenzo

  • Lucy Timmins

  • Isaiah Tour

  • Jazz dos Santos (mentorship only)

The workshop took place on 25th - 26th July in Tāmaki Makaurau, and participants heard from producers Harriet Crampton (Happiness, My Life is Murder), Thomas Coppell (Big Girls Don't Cry, Little Apocalypse), Drew Marshall (Caterpillar, Falling Up), Nicola Smith (Trans and Pregnant; The Boy, the Queen and Everything in Between) and QPI 2024 alumni Harry Wynn (Queer Aotearoa: We've Always Been Here) about aspects of their career and the role of producing.

Each participant will now receive 4 hours of mentoring with an experienced producer mentor.

"It was extremely informative as a producer and incredibly rejuvenating as a queer creative"
- 2025 participant

This initiative was made possible with support from the NZ Film Commission.
